The UK National Lottery has made more than 800,000,000 winners (you read that correctly, it’s really 800 million) from the time that it began in November’94. Each week, about 750,000 people having tickets are winners in the UK lottery, but the ones who win big money are the ones who get all the attention.
UK Lottery Biggest Win In June’95 the largest individual ticket win took place in UK Lottery history. The ticket was worth 22,590,829 Pounds. The prize was shared by two Brighton residents, Paul Maddison and Mark Gardiner. A winners right to anonymity wasn’t put into effect until December of 94. This option was put on the table after the identity of a 17.44 million Pounds winner from Blackburn was released to the media. This winner was a very shy and reserved Asian factory. Even though he kept to himself, the leak made it real easy for the media to track him down.
Biggest Jackpot Winner in the UK National Lottery The biggest UK National Lottery prize was 42,008,610, which was split by three people holding a ticket in January’96. The biggest winner from Europe happened with the Irish lottery, when a woman from Limerick won 77million, while a whole town in Spain actually was winners of a life-changing US$263 in the El Gordo lottery.
Biggest Lottery Win in the World However, every one of these lottery jackpots sounds like pennies compared to what was the biggest jackpot of all — $365 million, (210 million) that a fortunate person from Nebraska in the United States won with a Powerball ticket. His name was Alain Maboussou and he was an immigrant from the Republic of Congo who worked at a meatpacking plant. He drove people crazy because he didn’t try to pick up his winnings immediately. It goes without saying that he stopped working right after getting the news.
Unclaimed jackpots and Sports in The National Lottery You may not think it is possible, but a few people who win large jackpots on the UK National Lottery don’t ever pick up their winnings! They should ask for their UK lottery money! If you check online, you will see that between March and July 2006, an amazing 5,313,852.50 worth of jackpot winnings went unclaimed. Plus, if those tickets remain unclaimed through January 2007, they will have no rights to them and all the cash goes to the UK lottery’s list of Good Causes.
Recent National Lottery unclaimed prizes The unclaimed winnings take in two interesting 250,000 prizes, one from a Euro Millions drawing (Hey, sometimes we do get something good from Europe!) and another ticket from a Thunder ball drawing. Possibly the most astounding amounts that went unclaimed amounts are two winnings totaling 1,666,667 on the same day, Saturday 29 April 2006. Why in the world would two such lucky people not even look at their tickets! One was from Warwickshire and one from Glasgow? What kind of event would cause that? Well, the big even was when footballer Wayne Rooney broke his metatarsal bone a mere six weeks before the the opening round of the World Cup did of course!
What goes on in someone’s life that would cause him or her to not check his or her tickets? Maybe it was the day of the Olympics, or the Tour de France rode through your town. There has to be a pretty significant event going on in someone’s life to bypass the 2 minutes it takes to see if you are a millionaire. So why let all of those unclaimed millions that sit there waiting for the lucky win to claim it. Stop what you are doing; forget about that sport injury from your favorite player, I know you are excited about the 2012 Olympics. Check your lottery tickets, you do know the UK Lottery is making Millionaires on a weekly basis and just think how great you will look with a million dollar or more in you bank account.
